Teacher Notes for Use During Instruction

Lesson Objective (s): Agenda for Board: Student/Class Profile

Comments: To be able to name and understand the phases of the moon. Provided by teacher. 20 Students in total. 8 Special Education. Smart board, Scissors, stapler, moon phases worksheet, and mini flipbook.
Complete by: 10:00

Start up smartboard

Materials: Procedure:

Eileen will go over new moonwaxing gibbous and Kristi will go over full moonwaning crescent

Include: cognitive engagement & formative assessment (s)

Include possible adjustments if warranted by formative assessment

We will begin with introducing the moon. Then we will show a PowerPoint on the different phases of the moon. Questions may be answered throughout the lesson or at the end. After the PowerPoint the students will have the opportunity to complete a work sheet with a partner that requires them to determine what each phase of the moon is. After giving the students some time to complete it, we will then go over it with the class. When finished with the worksheet the teachers will provide instruction for creating the mini flipbooks. By the end each student will have their own mini flipbook containing all the phases of the moon.

Make sure all students have a scissor

Ask students to raise their hand when they need their flip book stapled

Include grouping if any Closure:

Students will meet with their 6:00 appointment. Begin by: 9:45

Closure will end with each student having their own mini flipbook containing all of the phases.
