Methods
In Spring Semester 2012 we created an instrument with the following questions:
What level would you rate your knowledge of this subject before this program? What level would you rate your knowledge of this subject after this program? How much do you think the information you learned in this presentation will change the way you interact with people with disabilities?
Goals of Infusion Units: Students will become familiar with disability issues Students will understand how to effectively interact with people with disabilities Students will have a greater understanding of disability issues Students will have a greater understanding about disability studies as an academic field
Student Comments
Overall good presentation, I have a concern that changing the language used may not change the intent of that language and if that isnt emphasized the stigma may not change with the language. Its great to hear these guest speakers because it is something we will encounter often as nurses and everyday people- thank you! There was a lot of valuable information that I can use as a guide in my future career as a teacher. It was revealing to have both of you coming and helping to face the challenges we will have as health care providers in order to avoid discrimination against people with disabilities.
