Help Needed for Refugees in Boise Area My name is Joey Kiehl and I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 260.

You may not realize it, but we are surrounded by many refugees who have recently obtained asylum right here in the Treasure Valley. These refugees come from Burma (or Myanmar), the Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, etc. Many come with emotional problems or post-traumatic stress disorder. These people have escaped the ravages of war, with its terrible consequences. Many parents have lost children, and children have sometimes lost a mother or a father. Many have escaped hunger and unsanitary living conditions. Many come with medical problems - tuberculosis, malaria, malnutrition, etc. - things that we almost never even think about here in America. Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of being in the homes of some of these refugees and seen the basic needs that they have. With your help, I would like to do something to help these people. For my Eagle Scout Project I have decided to serve the CARE Maternal/Child Health Clinic of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, a clinic for pregnant refugee women and babies. They are in need of our help. You can help these babies this Christmas season by donating: Diapers (Sizes 1-5; Size 4 is in greatest need) Bottles, Sippy Cups, and Pacifiers Baby clothes Books (preferably board books that contain pictures of real people, babies, animals, etc.)

We will be picking up donations from your home on December 8th. Please have your donations ready on your front porch by 10am. I sincerely thank you for the help you are providing these needy families during the Christmas season. If you have any questions call me, Joey Kiehl, at 854-7764
