17, bunburry Avenue. Headington, OXFORD OX1 8ET April 1st, 2005 Dear Miss or Ms Thorpe, I have just read your ad for a secretarial job, and think it is the kind of job that would suit me. I enclose my curriculum vitae. I have been working as a secretary/typist for the past eighteen months in Mannings Opticians in Headington, so I feel I know a lot about the optical business. However, I have always been ambitious, and feel I need a change, and my boyfriend Jan Agrees with me. In Mannings we use old IBM electric typewriters, but Jan says that if you gave me the job, he would teach me all about word processors in no time, as he has been working with one for years. Jan is Czech, and has been trying to teach me Czech. Also I have been studying French at Headington Poly for the last three months. I am not fluent yet in either language, but practice makes perfect, they say. I hope you will give me an interview, and look forward to hearing from you Your sincerely,

Gleba Cottage Paternoster Way Abingdon, Berkshire AB1 3BT April 1st, 2010 Ms. Anne Thorpe Jericho Micro-Optics OXFORD OX9 9ZZ Dear Ms. Thorpe, I was very interested to read you advertisement for a secretary in this mornings Oxford Mail. I believe I have the kind of qualifications and experience your company is asking for, and am therefore enclosing my curriculum vitae. I enjoyed my present job at first, but recently the company has been taken over by a large multinational, and now I have less opportunity to deal with people and less responsibility than I had previously. The post you advertise attract me very much for these reasons. The multinational has been installing a computer system in my office for the last two months, but I have not yet has the chance to work with its word processing facility. However, for the past three months, I have been attending a Word Processing course at the Oxford Secretarial College, and through that I have been gaining experience with them. I have also been attending a course in French for secretaries at the same college since last September. I very much hope you will give my application your consideration, and look forward to hearing from you. Yours Sincerely
