Pre-med just means that you want to go to med school Myths: majoring in certain fields guarantees your space in medical school Getting good test scores and good grades are not all that grad school looks at Dont feel like you have to rush into medical school CLASSES NEEDED FOR PRE-MED One year of general chemistry with lab One year of organic chemistry with lab One year of physics with lab One year of life sciences with lab One year of math One year of English Some medical schools will require one quarter of biochemistry with lab AP scores will not count for medical school PRE-MED TRACK timeline April-June of third year: take MCAT June-July: Primary application July-September: Secondary application September-December: Interviews Admit following Fall Alternatives of medical school Dentistry Nursing Optometry Osteopathic medicine Pharmacy Sports medicine/physical therapy Osteopathic Medicine -alternative to the standard practice. Has similar privileges Dental School -can receive a DDS or a DMD Pharmacy School
