THE AQUAZONE JOURNEY

AQUAZONE FOUNDATION The foundation stage is designed to encourage confidence in the water during a child's early years. Foundation lessons focus on developing motor skills and an introduction to water. AQUAZONE STAGE 1 1. Basic safety awareness 2. Basic water confidence and movement skills 3. Swimming aids can be used (e.g. arm bands or floats) AQUAZONE STAGE 2 1. Basic safe entries to the water 2. Swimming aids can be used (e.g. arm bands or floats) AQUAZONE STAGE 3 1. More advanced safe entries to the water 2. Travel up to 10 metres 3. Rotation skills 4. Water safety knowledge AQUAZONE STAGE 4 1. Developing an understanding of buoyancy 2. Refining kicking technique 3. Swimming 10 metres using a variety of strokes AQUAZONE STAGE 5 1. Sculling and treading water 2. Complete rotation 3. Improving all strokes AQUAZONE STAGE 6 1. Co-ordinated breathing 2. Basic rescue techniques 3. Swim 25m AQUAZONE STAGE 7 1. Linked routines using skills learnt over the past 6 stages 2. Complete an obstacle course 3. Swim up to 100m AQUAZONE STAGES 8 10 Once the swimmer has developed the core range of skills by completing stages 1-7 they have the choice to take part in one of five different aquatic disciplines*: 1. Competitive swimming 2. Diving 3. Synchronised swimming 4. Water polo 5. Rookie lifesaving *Not all disciplines will be available at all pools.
