Reflection on workshops

We only have one workshops in this cycle, which is the interactive prototyping workshop. It worked quite well for me, since I had a perfectly working prototype prepared on that day, and I have to say the fixed date of this workshop really helped me a lot in finishing the prototype in time by acting as kind of a reminder. During the workshop, I first tested my 2-mirror prototype with 3 people in the same studio but from other groups, because I want to hear some fresh insights from people who are not familiar with my project. And the feedbacks from first participant (Pengcheng) really helps a lot for me to come up with one more test situation, which was used in later tests, bringing more interesting insights. Then, later that morning, after testing with people from the studios, since we have sufficient time left for that afternoon, I left the workshop and continued to go out to test with others, so in this case, the workshop also acted as a good bridge to link the test trials with real test. Only one comment I want to make is perhaps it s nice to say it is obligatory to do the workshop in mixed groups, even in mixed studios. Because the good thing is people do make full use of their teammates in the workshop and regards it as part of their test, it s good to have this input but the team member is already kind of specialist of your project and their opinion might not be that fresh as pure users. If students are forced to test each other s idea with people in even other studios who know nothing about each other s project at all, the test results might be more authentic and objective.
