WATCH FOR DEER AND MOOSE

The recent tragic death of a motorist after hitting a moose is a reason to be very careful when driving in our area, particularly around dusk. Prior to 2006, the annual number of collisions with deer or moose was about 1,000 on the Citys more than 6,000 km of roads. In the past three years, following a safety information program, the numbers have been 557 in 2009, 533 in 2010 and 559 in 2011.

BEAVERBROOK LIBRARY
I have recently had a briefing on the construction of the addition to the Beaverbrook Library. Construction is now scheduled to start at the beginning of March and be completed in the summer of 2014. During that time the library will be closed. Pickups of books ordered on line will be at the Beaverbrook Mall while other services can be accessed at the Hazeldean or Stittsville branches. The rest of the Mlacak Centre will remain open but access may have to be through the arena at some times. Watch for the sign about the construction that is to be unveiled on December 4.
