Moh Hensley Moh English 120A Prof.

Marion Bruner 08/29/2012 Homework

Im Hensley Moh and Im from Cameroon in the North Western part of Africa. I moved to the U.S on January 2011 in order to further my studies. I speak English, French and Pidgin. My favorite sport is soccer. Actually, soccer is the main sports played in my country . I love French music, African-based music, country music, techno music and gospel music. My favorite is African-based music since most songs are mainly for dancing. I also like sharing my experiences with friends. It always seems to be more fun when I do things with friends than when I am alone. My country is bilingual since our official languages are English and French. I sometimes found it difficult expressing myself in English because I grew up in a French speaking town. The moment classes were over , we spoke just French and this certainly was not helpful for me in particular since most of my friends went to French schools. I wrote a lot of English writing exams which gave me some confidence expressing myself in writing. Before coming to the U.S, I had to take some English tests like TOEFL, ACT and SAT. Also, my first English course at Queens helped me so much.

I make mistakes when it comes to punctuation marks and I also make grammatical errors especially when I make a sentence that looks long. Generally, Im good at keeping my sentences simple in most cases. Im hoping to increase my writing skills as I move forward in this course and I believe that by disciplining myself properly I will be able to achieve my goal.
