Machu Picchu is a pre-Columbian 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level .Machu picchu is located in south America,it is belived that machu picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti, also referred as "City of the Incas". It was built in the inca style , its primary structure are the Intihuatana , the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. Here are some of the top theories about Machu Picchu: Machu Picchu Was the Last Inca City: Bingham, of Yale University, had two theories regarding the purpose of Machu Picchu. The first one goes as machu picchu was the birthplace of Inca society,and second that its the legendary "lost city" of Vilcabamba la Vieja, Machu Picchu Was a Holy Nunnery: It was speculated that Machu Picchu might have been a temple devoted to the Virgins of the Sun, a holy order of chosen women dedicated to the Inca sun god, Inti. This theory was based upon the dozens of skeletons Bingham's team found buried at the site. This theory was found wrong , because later when the skeletons examined the remains and found that the skeletons were about half males and half females.
