PURPOSE In class we have been learning about the Israel and Palestinian conflict. Through this time we have discussed the 5 main dimensions of a human conflict. More recently we have learned about four philosophies the United States could use to deal with global conflicts. In order to demonstrate your understanding of these two components you are going to compose a memo to President Obama. The memos you compose will be read by your classmates, teacher, and possibly other foreign policy experts. FORMAT/REQUIREMENTS When typing the memo you need to do the following: Use proper format like the one modeled for you here o This could include bullets but they should be thoroughly explained o Headings that state main idea of the section Purpose Information about why youre writing the memo History Brief explanation of the history of Israel and why were involved Proposed Action An explanation of why the future you have been assigned should be used for this conflict o Remember to persuade your readers of your side regardless of your actual beliefs on this topic Pick one of the 3 solutions to support and explain how it fits with your future and why it would work. PROCEDURES After your memo has been typed you will share it with others in the class. They classmates that will read your memo will have been assigned a different philosophy than you. After the memos have been read your group will video tape a debate where you attempt discredit the claims made by the opposing philosophies.
