Young People and Self-harm Study Parent Volunteers Wanted

Do you have a daughter or a son, aged up to 25, who has harmed themselves, or are you a carer of such a person? Researchers at the University of Oxford would like to hear about your experiences and use what you tell us to support other parents and carers.

Taking part would involve being interviewed about your experiences of being a parent or carer of a young person who has engaged in self-harm, including how you found out about the self-harm, how you felt about it, what impact it had on you and others around you, and what help you were able to get. The aim of the research is to create an information resource that can help others who might be in a similar situation. We also hope it will be used to improve health professionals understanding and support for young people who self-harm and their families.

The research will be published on the award-winning website, www.healthtalkonline.org

If you would like to take part in an interview or want to find out more, please contact Nic Hughes nic.hughes@phc.ox.ac.uk or Caroline Jordan on 01865 289 328 (24 hour answer phone) or hergadmin@phc.ox.ac.uk
