FIRE SAFETY TIPS

The month of March marks the beginning of the sunny season. Its remarkable high degree of temperature contributed much to the occurrence of the most recorded number of fire incidents within the country. Thousands of Filipinos suffered from the tragic loss of valuables, were displaced and disfigured, and the worst and worth grieving for are the lives that were lost. Relative thereto, the bureau of Fire Protection, on its aim to eliminate or lessen such incident, has made March of every year as the Fire Prevention Month. Complying with the mandate and directives from the National Headquarters, Tampakan Fire Office hereby informs the public to please observe the hereunder detailed fire safety tips to ensure a fire free community during the stinging heat of the sunny season, to wit: 1.Eliminate fire hazards through good housekeeping. Dispose waste, rubbish and other flammable materials regulary 2. Keep matches out of childrens reach 3. Oil, gas lamps and candles should be placed away from curtains or to the place where the wind, children or pets can topple them. Put out any flame before going to bed. 4. Do not keep flammable materials such as gasoline, alcohol and paint inside the house. 5. Regularly check your electrical installations, and have all frayed wirings and electrical fixtures changed or repaired by a licensed electrician. 6. Do not overload electrical circuits by cutting additional lights and appliances. 7. Blown fuses should not be replaced with coins, wires and metals. 8. Never leave lit cigars/pipes unattended. 9. Keep a first aid kit in a hand reach. 10. Provide for fire extinguisher or a drum full of water.
