Luke 2:1-5 (NLT) 1 At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. 2 (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. 4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, Davids ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. 5 He took with him Mary, his fiance, who was now obviously pregnant.

1. The Hype of His Coming


Luke 1:32-33 (NLT) He will be very great called the Son of the Most High God will give him the throne He will reign over Israel forever His Kingdom will never end! Luke 2:28-35 (NLT) Gods Salvation, Gods Light, Glory of Israel, a child destined, a joy to many, a sign from God. John 1:15 (NLT) John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, This is the one I was talking about when I said, Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.

2. The Manner in which He Lived


Matthew 20:28 (NLT) For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. Matthew 23:11 (NLT) The greatest among you must be a servant.

3. The Charge and Blessing He Left


John 13:15-17 (NLT) 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16 I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17 Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.
