Name and Title of Supervisor: Richard (Production Assistant) Position of Work Placement: General assistant Main duties carried Out: Runner duties; 3D modelling for Makers Mark (smallbatch bourbon whisky seller); Picasso ident creation Reasons why I selected this type of placement: Try to get involved - regardless of how menial - in one of the pre-production/ production/ post-production stages of a commission the company might-or-might-not be involved in. Personal goals: Enrich life with knowledge of how an internal animation production company operates. To also contribute to the achievement of corporate objectives to the best of my abilities and make use of this unique opportunity.

Week 1 Day One


Date: Monday 3rd December 2012 Starting Time: 09:15 approx to nearest quarter past the hour. Finishing Time: 18:30 " " Training Received: Richard briefed me on what commission Picasso were currently engaging in. I was asked to create a whipped cream dispenser with sample images provided. The medium of choice to go about how to create it was very flexible. Duties Performed: Managed to install Maya and Mudbox with student licence (not the naughty versions and via the Autodesk student community) onto system for use. This helped me greatly to create the desired object as my experiences with 3DS Max are indeed rusty (this is Picassos preferred industry-based-software), but use of these alternative programs were generally favoured if it meant I could present a finished 3D model. The way they handled this was really cool and I was very appreciative they allowed me to install these software. Miscellaneous: Met Richard. Date: Tuesday 4th December 2012 Starting Time: 09:30 " " Finishing Time: 18:15 " " Training Received: Duties Performed: Continuation of dispenser creation. Miscellaneous: Met Richard Price (Executive Producer).

Date: Wednesday 5th December 2012 Starting Time: ABSENT DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS (few Flocks of snow causing transportation issues. Fussy health and safety train co-ordinators) Finishing Time: N/A Training Received: N/A Duties Performed: N/A Miscellaneous: N/A

Day Four
Date: Thursday 6th December 2012 Starting Time: 09:45 " " Finishing Time: 18:15 " " Training Received: Duties Performed: Asked if I can assist with any tasks that might be available for me to work on. Mel informed me of the work exp. ident pack. A brief is not created but through some conversation, the details of pack were revealed. The basic idea is to create a short opening clip demonstrating what Im creatively capable of and using Picassos logo in the mix. Miscellaneous: Met Rmy D. (3D Artist), Janon, Tony, and Jane (Executive Producer).

Day Five
Date: Friday 7th December 2012 Starting Time: Finishing Time: 18:00 " " Training Received: Asked to volunteer for tasks and was assigned to create an ident using Picassos logo. Duties Performed: Started ident.

Miscellaneous: Met Sam Hope (Senior Producer).

Day Eight
Date: Wednesday 12th December 2012 Starting Time: 9:45 " " Finishing Time: 18:15 " " Training Received: No training today Duties Performed: Afternoon runs; cinnamon sticks and Christmas cherry lights for Picasso party. Miscellaneous: Met Amalie and Steve May.

Day Nine
Date: Thursday 13th December 2012 Starting Time: 10:15 (Train delay at Tunbridge and London Bridge) " " Finishing Time: 18:15 " " Training Received: No training today Duties Performed: Runs to stock up on shopping, and also including cheese knifes and bottle openers. Sense of giving personal opinions to help encourage how to organise parts of the event. Two runs to the post office to send a Picasso package and a personal one for Mel. Preparation of Picasso after party mainly. Miscellaneous: I was invited to come along to the Picasso Christmas party. Felt really privileged, and was surrounded by warm and friendly company which helped to realise the perspective that the industry is, perhaps, not a starchy place but is smart-cazh.
