    Abstrak : ABSTRACT Background.Impacted teeth should be removed to prevent the onset of the associated problems. The surgery usually done is odontectomy. While awaiting surgery, the patient may experience anxiety related to the surgery. Anxiety levels of patients planned for odontectomy need to be controlled as much as possible before surgery to reduce the risk of inefficient local anesthesia effect and the bleeding during and after the operation. However, until now there are no available data on how the level of anxiety in patients who will undergo odontectomy in Oral Maxilofacial Surgery Clinic RSGMP FKG UNAIR. The most common scale used in such researches is Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Purpose.1) To determine the level of anxiety in patients who will undergo the mandibular third molar odontectomy based on HARS scale. 2) To describe anxiety symptoms in patients which appear before the mandibular third molar odontectomy based on HARS scale. Material and Method. 50 samples of the study were asked questions over 14 items questionnaire based on HARS regarding symptom scale questions before the operation. Questionnaires given to the sample while in the waiting room. The answers given were classified into 5 categories (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Result. Mild anxiety level is 64.0%, mild to moderate anxiety level is 28.0%. Moderate to severe level is 6.0%, and severe level is 2.0%. Conclusion. Majority of the sample falls to category ???mild??? anxiety level, followed by "mild to moderate", then "moderate to high", and the last is "high" anxiety level category. In odontectomy, the dominant symptoms seen in the sample are symptoms in cardiovascular and respiratory system.
