Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets across India on Wednesday, calling on authorities to stem the rising tide of violent sexual attacks on women, after a 23-year-old medical student was raped and beaten by six men on a Delhi bus. The incident on Sunday night [16th December 2012] has convulsed India, sparking fierce criticism of the police, rows in parliament, blanket coverage in the media and even a debate on the role of revealing outfits worn by stars of Bollywood films.

Shown above is the solar eclipse of 21st May 2012 at Delhi. Its placement on the Ascendant makes it very significant for India. The Ascendant [26ta22] is conjunct the star Algol [26ta20]. Algol is the severed head of the raped woman Medusa. The eclipse at 0ge21 was prominent for another reason. It fell exactly on the Ascendant [0ge54] of Indias Independence chart [15 Aug 1950, 0:00 Delhi].
