Recipe for biscuits: 2 cups flour 1 tbl baking powder tsp salt 1/3 cup shortening cup milk

lk Combine dry ingredients, cut in the shortening with pastry blender or fork, add milk, stir just until moistened. Turn dough out on floured surface, knead lightly 3-4 times. Do not overworkjust enough to moisten. Roll dough to thickness with rolling pin. Cut out biscuits with biscuit cutter, place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake in a 425 degree oven. 15 minutes til golden brown. Makes 1 dozen Basic muffin recipe 2 cups flour 2/3 cup sugar 2 tsp baking powder tsp baking soda tsp salt tsp cinnamon 1 cup milk cup melted butter/margarine 2 eggs Wisk together all dry ingredients. In another bowl wisk wet ingredients. Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients just until blended. Stir in fruit as desired. Put into greased muffin tins---or cup liners. Fill 2/3 full. Makes 1 dozen. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees. Fruit: Use 1 cup of fresh or frozen fruit cup or chopped up. Mandarin fruitdrain first. Surprise muffins: Fill muffins full with batteradd 1 tsp of jam/jelly, then batter again.
