PERSONAL STATEMENT I have always been passionate about design structures and planning.

I had already made my decision to study civil engineering even before I finished school because I was fascinated by mathematics and often wondered how buildings had been constructed throughout history. While studying at the xxxx, I worked in the first instance in a construction company assisting the building site manager with the daily duties of calculating quantities of materials needed, supervising, pouring concrete in floors and roofs and dealing with waste materials. It was an enjoyable and rewarding experience from which I learned much about the logistics and management of the construction business. The following year, I joined a design company as a designer in a project drawing water systems and drainage of all levels of a shopping centre in AutoCAD. Having spent the last semester of my university study completing my thesis, the focus of which was a software that calculated dimensions in a circle and rectangular columns and reinforced steel, I graduated with a a Bachelor Degree in Science Civil Engineering in 2007. I am currently attending the University Foundation Course IELTS at Central Sussex College in Crawley, in order to improve my English language skills and intend to take the test in June of this year. I am also following another course on AutoCAD at the same college. I feel now is the time to explore my subject further by pursuing a postgraduate Master Degree in the field. After some research, I am confident your course is the right one for me as many modules incorporated meet my individual needs. I, therefore, look forward to joining your university with much excitement and anticipation.
