CPOA NOMINATES RICHARD V.

SILVER FOR VILLAGE TRUSTEE The Nominating Committee of the Central Property Owners Association (CPOA) has selected Richard V. Silver for the position of Village Trustee for the 2013-2015 term. The Nominating Committee was advised by Mayor Donald T. Brudie that he would not seek reelection for this position. Mr. Silver is a lawyer and business executive. He retired earlier this year from AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company where he spent nearly 26 years. At the time of his retirement, he was Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. He previously was an attorney at Merrill Lynch and at the New York law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel. Dick is a summa cum laude graduate of St. Johns University and a graduate of St. Johns University Law School where he was a St. Thomas More Scholar and an editor of the Law Review. Over his career he served as a director of numerous corporate organizations and was active in a variety of professional organizations, having served as director of the Life Insurance Marketplace Standards Association, Chair of the Legal Section of the American Council of Life Insurers and as Chairman of several industry advisory committees of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Dick and his wife Karen have been residents of the Village for over 18 years. Until 2011, they lived in the Eastern section. They currently live on Barnes Lane and have two grown children, both of whom attended Garden City schools When asked for a statement, Dick said, As longtime Village residents, Karen and I have come to value the unique quality of life that Garden City provides. Maintaining that quality of life in a fiscally responsible way, particularly in such challenging economic times, will not be an easy task. It is my hope that my background and experience managing large organizations and significant budgets will allow me to make a positive and constructive contribution to the necessary discussions and debates that we must have in the coming years. The following members of the CPOA Nominating Committee, Tom Simpson, Chairperson, and committee members H. Arthur Anderson, Wayne Muscarella, John Pascal and Joseph J.Ortego voted to submit the name of Richard V. Silver as the nominee for Village Trustee to represent the Central Section of Garden City.
