    Whistler RCMP are investigating the death of a 43-year-old male skier from Oklahoma who was found at the bottom of a cliff near Franz's Meadows on Whistler Mountain on January 7th, 2013. A passerby noticed the injured male and alerted ski patrol, who were unable to revive the man at the scene. Based on his injuries and location, it appears the man fell from the cliff above Franz's Meadows. The RCMP and coroner's office are investigating to determine the cause of death.

    File # 2013-0199 2013-01-07 15:42 PST Whistler RCMP are investigating a sudden death which occurred on Whistler Mountain on January 7th, 2013. RCMP were contacted after a skier on Franzs Meadows was passing a cliff area and noticed a male who appeared to be in need of help. When the male didnt respond to the passerby, he contacted Whistler Blackcomb Ski Patrol to attend. RCMP from Whistler Detachment also attended the scene. Attempts were made to treat the male by ski patrol and physicians at the scene, however they were unable to revive the male, noted Sgt. Rob Knapton from the Whistler Detachment. From the males injuries and the location of the body, it appears that the male fell from the cliff area above Franzs Meadows, advised Sgt. Knapton. Whistler RCMP are still investigating along with the B.C. Coroner Service to determine exactly what occurred.

    The name of the deceased male, a 43yr old male from Oklahoma is being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
