Spend time practicing every day, not just a day or two before the lesson. Practice slowly at first. Emphasize quality and accuracy. For best results, set aside a specific time to practice each day. Read and follow the assignment carefully to be prepared. Practicing two shorter sessions per day is a good idea. Be sure the practice room and music rack are well lighted. To concentrate, stay free from distractions that include TV, family and friends. Weekly practice minutes will be totaled and initialed by a parent. Prizes will be awarded throughout the year for a combination of practice totals, special performances and memorized songs. Bring an assignment notebook with pockets and all necessary lesson books to each lesson. Remember short fingernails!
