National and International Global Change Research
Friday, January 18th 2:00 PM Center for the Arts Screening Room - Room 112 Light Reception to Follow in the Atrium Biography Dr. Timothy Killeen was appointed as the president of the Research Foundation and SUNY vice chancellor for research in June of 2012. He currently leads the SUNY Research Council and is the chair of the Patent and Inventions Policy Board. Dr. Killeen has completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at University College London, with his Ph.D. in Atomic and Molecular Physics. Starting in 2008, Dr. Killeen was the National Science Foundations assistant director for geosciences. He led the United States Global Change Research Program, which is recognized for establishing the Science, Engineering and Education for Sustainability initiative, among several other programs. Dr. Killeen is a strong supporter and promoter of the National Science Foundations international programs. He has authored over 150 publications in referred journals and 300 other publications. In 2007, Dr. Killeen was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. From 2000 through 2008, Dr. Killeen was the director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research. For over 20 years at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Dr. Killeen was on the faculty and in the administration. Within this time, he also served one term as the associate vice president for research.
