HIV/AIDS in Africa

About Africa
Africa has a total population of about 1,032,532,974 77% of that live in slums. There are 30 million primary school-age children. Africa loses 20,000 people skilled personnel to other developing countries.

HIV/AIDS Epidemic
70% of the world HIV positive population live in Africa, in the southern most country's there populations are at least 30% positive. There is a estimated 5,500 deaths from AIDs every day. The Average life expectance of an Africa is only a mere 46 years. In 5 years 10% of teachers die because of AIDS, and 20% of school child where Orphaned.

Prevention
A number of African countries have conducted large scale HIV prevention initiatives in an effort to reduce the scale of their epidemics. In South Africa, the previous government's failure to respond to the AIDS crisis has lead to an unprecedented number of people living with HIV. Despite recent improvements, an estimated 48,000 babies are still born with HIV every year,

Outside Help
Throughout this AIDS epidemic a number of different non-profit companies have been doing there best to help the situation. Such origination like United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Then have been giving at Antiretroviral drugs which significantly delay the progression of HIV to AIDS and allow people living with HIV to live relatively normal.

Education Programs
One of the relief programs out there is called African Education Program (AEP). They want to give all Africans a chance at a good education. They use sponsorships to make schools and pay for the cost of books and other expenses.
