    This week in class, students worked on blending sounds in phonics and long vowel sounds. They practiced writing letters and wrote letters to other students. Students learned about proper nouns in grammar. The magic words of the week were "is" and "how." In math, students continued with subtraction. Notes from the teacher informed parents that a red bin is now available for dropping off lunches and that auditions for the talent show are on January 29th. Cooper was named Starfish of the Week. Early dismissal is on January 14th.

    What We Did This Week

    Phonemic Awareness: We continued working on blending sounds this week. During centers we worked on long vowel sounds in words with a silent e at the end. Writing: We continued practicing writing upper and lowercase letters. We also learned how to write letters and even wrote letters to students in Mrs. Whites class! Grammar: We learned about proper nouns. D Words to Know: Our magic words this week were is and how. Ask your child to spell these and use them in a sentence! Math: We continued with subtraction.

    Notes from the Teacher


    Due to limited space in the office, there is now a red bin right inside the office doors for lunches to be dropped off if your child forgot theirs. Please label it with the students name and let Tina or Donna know so they can notify the student prior to their lunchtime. The 3rd annual Emmons Got Talent show is March 15th. Auditions for K-2 students are o Tuesday, 1/29 and they generally run until about 4:30. Auditions are limited to 2 minutes and acts in the talent show are limited to 5 minutes. If your child would like to audition, please sign up by the office by Tuesday, 1/15.
