CONVERTING THE KEYBOARD TO SPANISH Students will be held responsible for submitting work with correct Spanish punctuation

so you must be able to use Spanish punctuation on your keyboard. HOW TO CONVERT YOUR KEYBOARD You can convert your keyboard to Spanish punctuation. Required marks (Como?), exclamation marks (Hola!), written accent marks marks must slant in the direction you see in the word oracin. To convert your keyboard, follow the steps below: 1. Click on the Start button on your desktop 2. Mouse over Settings to control panel 3. Click on Control Panel 4. Click on the Regional and Language options icon 5. Click on the Languages tab 6. Click on the Details button 7. Click on the Add button 8. Select Spanish International. 9. Click Language Bar punctuations are upside down question (oracin), and tildes (maana). Accent

11. Click Apply 12. Click OK 13. Click Apply 14. Click OK

10. Check 1st box Show language bar on the desktop and 3rd box Show additional language bar icons in the taskbar

Typing Spanish characters


Once youve changed your keyboard to allow you to type in Spanish: To make : Hit the ; key To make accent marks: Hit the key and then the vowel you want the accent on. To make upside down question marks: Hit the shift and = key To make ___: Hit the shift and / keys To make &: Use shift key and 6 key To make : Hold shift key & hit the ; key To make parentheses: Use the shift key and move one key to the left of the normal ( ) keys (Use 8 and 9) To make upside down exclamations: Hit the = key To make : Use the / key To make : Use the shift and . key

When you open a new program, make sure that you click on the ES icon on your computer to change to Spanish.

IF YOU DONT CHANGE YOUR KEYBOARD, TO MAKE SPANISH CHARACTERS:


To make accent marks: Hit control + apostrophe ( ) together, let go, and then hit the vowel you want. To make tildes: Hit control + shift + tilde ( ~ ), let go, and then hit the n. If you want a capital , dont let go before hitting the n. To make upside down question marks: Hit control + shift + alt + question mark ( ? ) at the same time. To make upside down exclamation points: Hit control + shift + alt + exclamation point ( ! ) at the same time.

IN POWER POINTyou must open a separate Word document, type the special letter or character, and then copy and paste it into your power point.
