JANUARY
Our Week
Dear Parents, I know it seems too soon, but we are collecting cereal boxes to use for Valentines Day. Please send in a cereal box by February 8th. This week in Religion, we will read Chapter 12, We Pray Every Day. The story this week is: Teaching Lucy the Words. We will begin to learn the Glory Be prayer. We will also learn about the Holy Spirit. In Math we will have a fun activity for the 100th day of school. We will also count groups of objects by 10s, name a shape piece using three attributes, order objects by length and measure length using nonstandard units. We will copy line segments, shapes and designs on a geoboard. In Reading we have completed the last book in the Meet the Superkids level. We will now complete the end-of-level test. The test will be spread out over the week. We have learned 13 letters and sounds in the Meet the Superkids level and will now begin the Superkids Club level. We will learn the remaining 13 letters and sounds in this level including memory words (sight words). We will still be spending ten minutes practicing blending each day as well as reading leveled books. This level progresses much faster than the first level and we will be working even harder at reading! We will be reading our first Superkids Club book this week.
