Little Problems Some May Be Troubled By (8th Grade Algebra)

By L.D.

Problem 1
g-2 52

Problem 1
g-2 52 Now some may be tricked into thinking it is 52g-2 when in reality since we are taking away what was in the denominator it is 1/ 52g2

Problem 2
(-)2

Problem 2
(-)2 The problem many have is that they think it is just -, when in reality the negative is squared as well so it is positive (think -1 x -1 = 1).

Problem 3
y0 x (8n6y-3)-2

Problem 3
y0 x (8n6y-3)-2 Now we know that the y0 is actually 1, so we next need to do the parenthesis and multiply them out, y6/64n12 which is now our answer.

Problem 4
5-2y-7c 5-6y6c

Problem 4
5-2y-7c 5-6y6c Now first we do the fives -2 - -6 becomes -2 + 6 = 4 and since four is a positive, it has no negative to weigh it down so it floats to the top. Next are the ys, -7 6 or -7 + -6 = -11. Since the number has a negative weighing it down it goes to denominator. The cs cross out and we are left with the number 64/y11.
