Platypus & Echidnas lays egg but why they are in (kingdom) class Mammalia ? Ans- Class mammalia is divided into prototheria, metatheria and eutheria. Platypus & Echidnas belongs to prototheria. They shows the characteristics of both mammals and reptiles, as they are showing more advanced characters like mammals, so they are been placed in the class Mammalia. 1. 2.
