looking forward to attach it You need 4 Pieces of 1.5 x 18 strips for 1 mitered border , hope you have already decided the colour you are going to usekeep the fabric readywe are getting closer to making mitered corners Your 4 blocks will look like image 24 from the right side
We need to arrange this with paper side up like image 25 , with all 1s(A1, B1, C1, D1 ) intersecting in the center. We are going to attach the pieces like this.
Adjust your stitch length to 4 and we will do 4 or 5 basting stitches at the fabric intersecting points like in image 27.
Remove the pins open it and see if all the points are intersecting
oopsRed is not rightI think there was a slip when I pinned itfrog it, adjust it and baste it again.
Hurray.i did itNow reset the stitch size to 1.5 and finish stitching itDo the same with C and D..
keep both sides together and press the seams to opposite sides like in image 30you have to do this to get perfect center..
Pin it, baste it with stitch size 4, make sure everything is in place.sew it with stitch size 1.5and open it
Press it with iron, enjoy your perfectly pieced center block.Measure it, and confirm that its 14 square.
Now we are going to put 1 mitered corner border for this center block Take one of the 4 pieces of 1.5x 18
sew it to one of the sides leaving the 2 fabric on either side and stop at bold line corner leaving a at the end . Go clock wise on 4 sides and do the same for all 4 sides.. Keep the piece with right side up, hold corners like in image 33, draw lines perpendicular to the stitches, measure a 45-degree angle, and draw it
Now we are going to stitch on that 45-degree angle line Open it and see
you got the perfect corner right. Do the same for all 4 corners Trim the ends of the border fabric open the corner and press it
You can be proud of your perfect mitered corners Finish off your center block with mitered corners. I will be back soon with final border foundation piecing pattern.
