THE GERMAN ALPHABET - LESSON I

The pronoun-cation of the German alphabet is similar to the Indonesian one, except 5 letters. Another similarity is, that speak German the same as you read it. So from there it should be quite easy for you to pronounce German properly. The German alphabet:

you speak it like = ae you speak it like = oe you speak it like = ue -> Es zet you speak it like = ss

THE E AND I COMBINATION:


For this you need nearly to forget everything your english teacher told you about pronouncing, exept don't forget the English word for "mata" (Bahasa Indonesia) the English word for Mata is = eye and that's the way you need to pronounce any German word having 'E' followed by 'I'. EXAMPLES: Das Ei = the eeg

eins = one zwei = two drei = three
