READING-12/13 A ESSENTIAL UNIT 5 (E05) SELECTIVE UNIT 6 (S06)

(Drama/Writing Dialogue) Unit Statement: In this Unit the students will read and analyze a play, skit or sketch. The students will also participate in a performance component for a play or a readers theatre production. For this performance outcome, students may also be involved in support of productions as stage crew, costume makers or creating backdrops. Students will also be writing dialogue for this outcome. There is a selective outcome in drama as well (S06). ESSENTIAL OUTCOME The Student Will read and discuss a play, skit or sketch. TSW describe the main characters (especially the protagonist and antagonist) and explain how they change or how they change others around them as the drama develops. TSW write dialogue in script format. TSW describe and explain the importance of the setting in the drama. Monday, 25 February and Tuesday, 26 February TSW demonstrate he/she can visualize the setting of a play by sketching or making a model of a scene. Wednesday, 27 February through Friday, 1 March TSW read or perform aloud in front of an audience. (Required oral component) TSW participate in a performance of a play skit, sketch or Readers Theatre. This performance may be acting, reading dramatically or performing a support task such as: stage crew, directing, creating backdrops or other important functions.
