BISHOP CHALLONER

CATHOLIC COLLEGIATE SCHOOL

POLICY : FUNDRAISING

Introduction

The Governors have prepared a policy statement on fundraising within the school.
Fundraising includes charity collections and fundraising events for charities, trips or the
school.

The aims of the fundraising policy are to:

• Promote charitable giving within the Catholic ethos of the school.
• Raise funds for the school and for school activities.
• Provide opportunities for student’s enterprise learning.
• Safeguard monies collected and ensure they reach their intended destination.

Organisation

Selection of charities:

• Students in each year group choose an appropriate charity to support through their
student council and submit to the Governors for approval.

For every event:

• All collections and activities must be approved by the Head of School.

• Any staff or students collecting money must wear a badge showing they are
authorised as a collector. Badges are issued by finance.
• Collectors must clearly say what they are collecting for.
• Collectors must use a sealed box.
• Collectors must provide finance with contact details of the charity.
• Normally events will run for one day.

Financial Arrangements

• All money must be counted and handed in to finance at the end of the day. A
yellow form will be completed and a copy kept by the collectors as their receipt.
• Money will be banked by Finance. Charity collections and school fundraising will
be banked in the Governors fund account. School trip fundraising will be banked in
the School Journey account.
• Finance will prepare and send cheques to recipient charities.

NB: Money must always be given to the cause it was collected for. Separate collections
must not be mixed.

Information

The total raised by each event will be publicised in the village voice and on the fundraising
notice board.
