Minotaur

Appearance- A body of a man and a bulls head. Birth- Poseidon made King Minos wife Pasiphae to fall in love with a bull from the sea called the Cretan Bull. The child had the head of a bull and a human body. King Minos was so ashamed of his son that he made orders for Daedalus to design labyrinth to the kings son. Death Icarus(the Minotaur) fell to his death. Wings were made for him but Icarus soon had the thrill of flying and flew higher. Sadly, the sun melted the wax holding the feathers and fell. He drowned and his body was washed upon the shore of an island. Also could be killed by Thesus.

Pasiphae
Birth of the Minotaur- King Minos was to sacrifice a white bull to Poseidon but he refused to. As a punishment, Poseidon made Pasiphae fall in love with a bull called the Cretan Bull. She soon had a baby but he was a Minotaur.

King Minos
King Minos ascended to the throne of Crete. He prayed to Poseidon for a white bull as a sign of approval. He was to sacrifice the bull in honour of Poseidon. King minos refused to sacrifice the bull because of its beauty. Poseidon punished King Minos afterwards for disrespect. After the birth of the Minotaur, the King gave orders to construct a labyrinth to hide the Minotaur.

Poseidon
Role- God of the Sea, ocean and waters.

Daedalus
Daedalus was a genius, an advisor and a designer. Creation of Icarus- Daedalus built a wooden cow for Pasiphae and the Cretan bull to mate in. He was then involved in the creation of the Minotaur.

Ariadne
Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos. She helped Theseus in his quest to slay the Minotaur. She gave him a long piece of thread to unwind to find his way back to the entrance of the labyrinth.

Theseus
Theseus was believed to be a hero. He killed the Minotaur bravely and rescued all the labyrinths prisoners.
