French II - Travel Unit - Lesson 5 Rationale State Standards Learning Objectives To introduce students to the futur proche tense.

To collect more vocabulary regarding vacation activities.

Students employ the futur proche to describe what they will do in the near future. Students dramatize various vacation activities.

Warm up: Ask students what they are going to do this weekend using the stem: Je vais

1) Futur proche grammar explanation - A verb construction used to express something that is going to happen soon, an upcoming event which is going to occur in the near future. - Formation - Present tense of aller + infinitive of action verb - Review warm-up phrase and rewrite it using the correct formation 2) Model dialogue using Mini-moi and Mini-toi. - MM: Quest que tu vas faire ce week-end? - MT : Je vais faire du shopping ! 3) Students will dialogue with at least two other students using the same dialogue modeled above, but using their own answers to the warm-up (what they are going to do this weekend). 4) TPR vocabulary - la mer, la plage, la montagne, faire de lescalade, faire une randonee, la musee, faire la voile, faire du ski, faire du shopping, nager
