How team members can improve analysis of problems Fact Seeking: Analyzing: Activating: Asking questions (rather than just making statements) which bring out pertinent facts. Asking questions or making statements to bring out the fine points and the reasons behind the obstacles. Thinking up situations or questions to bring out the knowledge of other team members.

How team members can enrich and organize group thinking Initiating: Clarifying: Elaborating: Integrating: Suggesting new ideas to one another. Raising questions that push on the discussion. Trying to make clear the meaning of other peoples suggestions Thinking of reswults and difficulties nobody else remembers Summarizing and getting the group back on track. Pulling related suggestions together.This is often the key to a group olution.

How team members can promote group solidarity and progress Encouraging: Appreciating: Mediating: Self-Disciplining: Giving the timid persons a break Keeping an open mind, and modifying ones own viewpoint in the light of facts brought out by others. Finding ways to reconcile clashing viewpoints of other members Suppressing the itch to lash out at other tem members. Giving the other person a chance to have his/her say.

Here are some nonproductive activities: Avoid them at all costs Dominating, Blocking, Distracting, Splitting hairs, Just talking, Not talking, Manipulating, Belittling
