Carlson Center Experiential Learning Opportunity After reviewing the Carlson Center website, I decided that I wanted to do an internship

to gain valuable experience related to careers Im interested in. I navigated to the Internship Opportunities and then to the IPE UW-affiliated internships. On the IPE website, I found a link for the IE3 Global Internships and found some internships in Europe and decided to look specifically at an internship in Romania. The Fulbright Educational Advising Center in Bucharest, Romania hires interns to assist in all of their operations at the center. Some of the interns responsibilities are to present information on the United States and the educational system, design promotional materials, help update the website, assist in the organization of outreach programs, act as an ambassador of US culture, and act as a moderator of US cultural events. I am interested in this internship because of its close ties with a European Studies degree. I am also interested in it because it assists me in fulfilling my passion of spreading worldwide awareness for other cultures. Not only would I be teaching Romanians about the United States, but I would also be learning about Romania in the process. I think this international two-way exchange of information is a very valuable part of anyones life and career in present life and the life of the future. With the Fulbright Educational Advising Center, I would be a part of a team of several people assisting Romanians who want to study in the United States. I feel that I would contribute greatly because not only have I experienced the United States educational system, I am planning to continue my studies through medical school. I feel that I could really give the entire perspective to someone who wants to study in the United States. In addition, my personal qualities of organization and tech savvyness will assist in accomplishing the overall goals of the program.
