Television Drama:

This is the first visual image that starts of the whole title sequence. It plays the role of an establishing shot as it gets the audience in the frame of mind that the show will be based mostly around the hospital. This can be denoted by the ambulance which arrives at the beginning. The colours that are used are very dull but a little Luminas this is to the the ambulance the main source of attention. This connotes that the drama will have very emotional but intense narrative as it is related to the hospital. The camera angle that is used is a mid/long shot. This allows that audience to see the ambulance in full detail. It also allows the audience to perceive the background that is located around it. So the audience are aware of where they are when the scene is taking place.

The whole title sequence involves the journey of how the job of people in the hospital are in life. The job they have adapted to is very fast pace as they are always on the move with their tasks. For example the paramedics are mostly on the road collecting and helping the people that are in need of help.

The journey consists of words that are related to the event taking place. This denotes words such as collision which appear on screen to elaborates what is taking place. This connotes that the words allow the audience to know what is happening without having any audio inserted in to the clip. This is an advantage as it allows the director to put music into the background instead on a narrator speaking. The word act like subtitle for the audience.

The lighting used is natural light but due to the effects that the production team has decided to use there is not light you can see. Although you can let that some lighting has been used by looking at the tomes of colours.

The pair of legs walking connotes that the person has just came out of the ambulance. This can be seen as the ambulance is behind the legs. The image allows the audience to be watchful as they want to find out what has happened to the person on the floor. The camera angle that is used is a low angle also known as the worm. This shot allows the audience to see the what is going on as if they are the person who is sprawled across the floor. I gives the audience a chance to see from a different perspective and angle of the scene. The image also doesn't give to much away this is to lure the audience into thinking what actually happened.

The mise-en-scene that is used in this image is quite unique. In this image you can see a hand that look rather pale which indicates that the person is in a bad condition. As well as you can see the legs in detail as they are more close up; so you can see that the person is wearing trousers and shoes/boots. This signifies that the person is dressed professionally for work. By the ambulance you can signify that their job is related towards a hospital.

The lighting that is used for this image is again natural but because of the effect that is used to discolour the scene to a natural colour the you cant perceive that there is much light.

The editing that was used for this image was continuity as the shots where on going but they were just using different shots to show key areas of the scene.

This image allows the audience to relate back to the first image to be able to link the journey together. Also there is no actual verbal word that are used throughout the opening sequence so the particular images that are used are fitted together you show an understanding of what the journey is.

The mise-en-scene which is used in this image is not that much compared to all the other shots. However this subtle scene does proved quite a bit of information of what is actually taking part in the opening sequence. By the clothes that the person is were you can perceive that they are a paramedic which have just come out from the ambulance.

Also because it is in the centre they can see exactly what is happening..This is why the director decided to use a shot like that so not much is given away just the main image of the scene so they audience can interlink it with the scene.

The editing which is used to link the image into the sequence is again continuity editing this is make the whole scene run smoothly whilst the audience is watching it.

The colours which are used in this image have been thought out really well as there isnt to much just subtle colours that reflect what we see.

The mise-en-scene used is allowing the audience to get a clear view of what the paramedic is physically doing to the the person who has had an acciednt. Although the image doesn't give much away.

The mise-en-scene that is used in the image signifies that were are inside the hospital at the moment. This is signifies by the props which are used such as the shelf with equipment also the gloves on the nurse. The costumes which are used suggest that there are paramedics and a doctor/nurse which is present.

The lighting which is used in this image look more artificial as it is coming from the lights which are being used inside the hospital. However the effect that they have used dims down the amount of light seen. There is no sound throughout the opening sequence as it allows the captions which are provided to tell the how the journey is going on with about the need of verbal words. The journey is fasted paced as you can gather from the beats of the soundtrack which is used throughout the whole opening sequence.

The editing used in this image is continuity which ha been used throughout most of this opening sequence so the whole scene is running smoothly and not having random cuts. This type of editing make the journey look more professional.

The mise-en-scene which is used in this image allows the audience to see where they are located in the scene. Also what is actually happening in terms with the patient. It can also be said that the patient has been left in safe hands at the end of the day.

From this image you can perceive that there is a mouth that is holding a cherry. Also the two fingers are putting the stalk out from the cherry. This may connotes that it is meant to signify a bomb because a soon as the stalk is pulled out from the cherry the whole opening sequence starts to begin. A close up shot is used to create this image. This allows the camera to capture the full image of the lips and the cherry. It allows the audience to see the image in full detail also the colour are fully visible. The colour red connotes danger which relates to the idea that the lips and the cherry are suggested to be a bomb which is about to explode. As well as if can symbolise the colour of a sexual vibe which can radiate off from the image itself for the viewers.

The mise-en-scene which is used for this image has been done in specific way to attract the audience just by using simple objects. It allows the audience to concentrate on the items without being distracted with other things.

The lighting that has been used for this image is artificial this can been denoted by looking at the cherry as the lighting is reflecting from the source. It suggest that a powerful source was used to light up the face.

The editing that has been used for this video is jump cuts as the images go from one character to another. It allows the images to give the audience a feel fro each characters personality and hw they are as a person.

The only props that was used for this particular image was the cherry. This object can be used in a seductive manner for especially to attract the male audience. Also it gives that audience a sense of what type of soap opera that are going to be watching.

The sound which is used to portray the beginning of the sequence is quite establishing as it sets a mood for the opening sequence. It also allows the audience to get used to the pace in those 2-3 second. The sound that is being used is diegetic.

This image denotes silhouette figures have been placed all over; this is to allow the male preference to stand out from the background. This connotes that the man that is located in the centre of the image is to suggest that he is a object of desire. It allows that audience to understand that the man is meant to be the centre of attention and all women are meant to be attracted to him. The shot that has been used is a long shot to allow the audience to perceive all the aspect of the picture. As well as it shows many silhouettes that are surrounding the male figure as it shows how, women are seen around him because he is really attractive and handsome.

The silhouette figures are perceived to be sex object that are attracted to the male audience this is a way of attracting them. Also they are shown as a black colour which portrays that the director is trying to keep their identities a secret as well as keep the main focus on the male actor.

The editing which is used in this opening sequence is jump cuts it allows the images of the actors to flash across the screen. The pace which is used is really fast so they can see the image and read the name then move onto the next one. The sound which has been used is non diegetic as it create more effect. Also the tune which is used is quite catchy; this will allow the audience to remember it after they have watched it. Furthermore the pace of the sound is fast. This allows the picture to bee kept in the beat of the pace.

The mise-en-scene that is used to is create a sexual atmosphere which can bee seen through make up, lighting, setting etc. The make up which is used is quite subtle on the man this is make sure that the masculinity is not affect and he is not perceived as a homosexual.

The lighting that has been used to create the affect of a shadow is artificial this is because natural light cannot portray this kind of effect. You can also see this by the 2 flashes of light that are shown in this image.

The image that has been used is a mid shot. This is to allow the audience to see the scenery of then black trees behind the women instead of just her. However the image allows that viewers to have a look at her body and the body language she is giving off. This can suggest that that her facial expressions are not as important as her body. Her body may be a way of attracting males and the audience type they bring. From this image you can denote a women standing in the middle of the landing whilst the trees are growing outwards. The only fruit that hangs from the tree is bridge red apples. This can connote that the fruit are dangerous but are attracting the women to eat it. The image is actually quite simple although it gives the audience a sneak peak insight to what her personality will be like in the TV show.

This image may resemble the idea related to Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit. This can be seen as the fruits are bright red which lures the consumer towards it. This fits the characters personality as she is the type to go against all the rules.

The colours that are used for this image are really eye-catching as it suggest that the main item which is meant to stand our is the fruit. Also the subtle colours are reflecting the mood that it is meant to be ordinary that she is unattainable. The lighting that has been used in for this image is most likely to be artificial. This can be seen through the shadows and tones in the image. The light itself doesn't look like it is real. By looking at the picture you can perceive that the shadows are shown have been made by special effect not by natural light effect the tone. The sound is similar to the pervious picture. It is an ongoing sound which is used throughout the whole opening scene. The editing that is used here is still jump cuts as the director is trying to show to fit all the characters into the title sequence. This can bee the reason for the speed of how quick the images are passing on the screen.

The mise-en-scene plays an important part in creating the visual imagery in this image. For example costume which the characters is wearing is fitted neatly to her body. This suggest that; she like to keep up with her fashion. As well as it could suggest that she like to wear clothes that like to show of her figure to the men. She is seen as the forbidden fruit for the men.

The image is a mid shot. It allows the audience to get a good view at the words which are surrounding him. They can get an insight to what he is thinking about. As well as it give them a chance to see what his facial expressions are. The images gives us an insight to what kind of a person he is.

The word that appear around the male actor; are in all different fronts and styles. This suggest that he may be thinking of many things at once this could explain the confusion he is getting and why the words are portrayed in many ways.

There isn't much colour in this image this maybe because they are trying to show more focus on his thoughts. Also the purple shirt that he is wearing is given more attention.

The lighting that has been used in this image is artificial. This is because the typography is created by a certain software and the only way to great shadow is by using computerised lighting,

This image denotes though projections boy in the centre coming in front of him. It is like her is creating an abstract diary right in front of his eyes. This connotes that he may be a persona that doesn't like to speak out a lot throughout the series. Instead he may prefer to write out his thought out on papers because this may be easier to express his feelings. As well as he can be a person who like to over this situations and sometime his thoughts get the best of him.

The sound for this image is the same as the rest of the other ones. It is a continence diegetic sound.

The mise-en-scene hasn't been used much in this image it is more about typography and the word that have been particularly chose. However the costume that the actor is wearing is casual dress wear. This signifies that the man doesn't care to much about this dress sense he is more into his thoughts.

The editing in this image is a little different as it shows the word are flying around as if the words are troubling his head. It also portrays that he is confused about certain topics in his life.

This image denote the eye of them main character Merlin. You can see the depth of his eye just by looking at this image. Her is a stereotype of what type of person is used to create a main character. For example it s more common for a white person in a soap to star as the main. This connotes that because wee see an image of his eye he is a important character for this show. The shot which has been used is a extreme close up image. This is to allows the audience to have a fully detail look at what type of eye is being shown. This shows that the eye is relevant to the actor which must play a key role in the show. As well as it shows that Merlin can see the future.

The lighting that is used in this image is most likely to be natural light. This is because only a section of his face is shown so the lighting can bee ordinary. As well as it is to help not show that artificial light is used as it would reflect into the eye.

There isnt much mise-en-scene that is used for this image. The key element would probably be make up. It would be used to enhances the eye colour of Merlin also his features. So the audience will he able to recognise this face when it comes on screen again.

The editing which is used for this image to connect to the others is jump cuts but with a merging transition as it fades into the next image. This is good as it shows that the director has thought about hat effect to use although it doesn't used continuity editing.

The sound which is used in this title sequence is ..

The shot that has been used for this particular image is a mid /wide shot. It allows that audience to get a glimpse of who they will be meeting throughout the series. As well as they can see who owns the thrown at the time.

The colours that are used for this image are dark browns and yellows. This is because back in the day the colours they used to wear was quite dull for the men. It also suggest that they have power. However for the women they used to wear a few brighter colours; so they could attract men.

The lighting that is used for this image is dark compared to all the other TV shows. This could be because this programme is set in the past of the Tudor times. It uses low key lighting this creates lots of shadows. As well as tense atmospheres.

The mise-en-scene has been used a lot for this image from costumes to setting. The costumes they have used represent the tutor time in history. They resemble outfits that people back in the days would have worn. The setting that was chosen was a place. This indicates that the people in the image are wealthy and have status to other people.
