Community Organizing Participatory Research or COPAR is a collective, participatory, transformative, sustained and systematic process of building peoples organizations

by mobilizing and enhancing the capabilities and resources of the people for the resolution of their issues and concerns towards effecting change in their existing oppressive and exploitative conditions (1994 National Rural Conference). It is determined to accomplish tasks and not to be daunted by words of discouragement. It situates out to empower, help and facilitate people in the community as well as establishing independence. In the four weeks of exposure for the second semester in Purok Taal 1, Brgy. Talomo, Bangkal, Davao City, the BSN 4-B class objective was to put into actions the problems that were identified by the community based on the collated data. The problems classified were Malnutrition, Irresponsible Pet Ownership, Poor Road Construction, Improper waste disposal and High Self-Medication Practice. These were the indication for the class to implement the different projects allotted for each problem. Various activities were done with the intention of dealing with the problems to the people of the community in Purok Taal 1. Lectures and seminar were also conducted by the class concerning malnutrition and high incidence of self-medication practice. The group also invited speakers from the different local government agencies particularly CENRO and the City Veterinarians Office which addresses the concerns of the community regarding improper waste management and irresponsible pet ownership. These were part of our information, education and communication promotion in the area. In addition, the class had provided food for the feeding program and cooking class as a response to the problem in malnutrition. Those programs stated above were done during the four weeks of duty in the community. The class had seen the effort, collaboration and contribution of the people in the community as well as the group. These would all be possible with the assistance and guidance of their clinical instructors. They were able to successfully implement the different projects proposed last semester.
