Merger
A Merger is a combination of two or more distinct entities into one. In a merger, the merging entities would cease to be in existence and would merge into a single surviving entity.

When one company takes over another and clearly established itself as the new owner, the purchased called an Acquisition An acquisition or takeover is the purchase by one company of controlling interest in the share capital, or all or substantially all of the assets and/or liabilities, of another company
