Coulombe Device Test (pendulum type) Part 3 (final)

Foreword: In part 2 of the test, we played with such parameters as different pulse strenght and variable masses. We learned that there was a sweet spot where the perfect combination of mass and strenght will give a maximum gain.

The Test-3: The last parameter to look into is the elastic string restraining the winngs movement. In this test, we wil try to loosen up and tighten up the string and even replace it with a solid string.

The Results: As seen in spreadsheet results_130114.xlxs , a maximum gain has been obtained when the elastic string is set to come into action when the wings reach an 180 degrees position between each other. We also notice that a solid string just doesnt work at all. The elastical effect is needed. The Conclusion: From this test, we can now assume that the elastic has to react at the rigth moment to add acceleration in the right direction with the most strenght, that is, when the wings are 180 degrees apart, their momentum are at a peak. Combining this and previous results from the 2 other test, we can establish that a gain is achievable under very precise condition wich not only relates to the parameters but also probably on the structure of the machine itself. Reproducing this effect might be tricky if youre not building an exact copycat of this particular frame.
