ABSTRACT ACTIVE RFID BASED HIGHLY RELIABLE EQUIPMENT TRACKER SYSTEM AND ALARMING SYSTEM

The RFID technology is two types. One passive RFID and other one is active RFID. The passive RFID can give the range up to few centimeters. The active RFID can give range from few meters and few tens of meters depending on antenna and power levels. The passive RFID is used in security and access control applications. Active RFID can be used for locating the objects and useful in tracking applications in given predefined area. Usually when we are in home are office when we hold costly and important items, we are worried about the safety of such systems. Since it is not possible to lock it all the time and preserve it, we cant keep such items in locked condition. In such applications the Active RFID technology based equipment tracker is very much useful. When the system is active it shall have the following functionality. The RFID tag will be sending a code word (which also same as the ID of tag) to the reader. The RFID reader along with the microcontroller unit continuously monitors thecode word from the tag. So as long as the RFID reader is receiving the tag information the item is present with in the range of the reader (typically few meters). When the RFID tag code is not received by the reader it gives alarm and red LED glows indicating that the item with tag is out from the readers range. The work includes making a hardware module with Active RFID reader, tag, PSoC microcontroller, LED interface, UART driver and developing necessary software modules. This product can be used as it is for several other applications, such as child tracking etc. The system will be making highly reliable by continuous reading of the code and ensuring the tacking, and buzzer indication when the system is down by any reason.
