Interphase

Interphase is divided into three parts: G1, S, and G2 Cell Grow in G1 Cells copy DNA in S Cells prepare for division in G2 This is the longest period of the cycle

Mitosis

Mitosis has four stages It includes prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase These stages can last for a minutes to several days

Prophase

Prophase is the first stage in Mitosis Chromosomes start to appear Centrioles separate and move to the opposite sides of the nucleus Spindle forms to help separate the chromosomes The Nucleus starts to break down and disappear

Metaphase

Metaphase is the second stage in Mitosis During Metaphase chromosomes start to line up at the center of the cell Chromosomes then connect to the spindle fibers of the centromere

Anaphase

Anaphase is the third phase in Mitosis Chromosomes spilt apart at the centromere This allows the sister chromatids to become individual chromosomes The chromosomes continue to move apart until they have separated Chromosomes move until they reach the opposite sides of the cells

Telophase

Telophase is the fourth and final stage in Mitosis The Chromosomes start to uncoil The Nuclear envelope reappears and the Nucleus becomes visible

Cytokinesis

Cytokinesis pinches the cells in half Two Nuclei form Once the process is finished each cell has a complete set of chromosome The process starts all over again
