Week One

3 Step Interview
Step One: Decide who will share first. That person should share the following information:
Name and background Previous experiences and feelings about learning and/or teaching grammar.

Step Two: Switch! (I will indicate when this happens.) The partner who didnt share responds to the same prompts. Step Three: Team up with another pair. (I will let you know when.) Take turns introducing your partner to the two new people and share some of the highlights from your conversation.

How familiar are you with Digication?


When I say go, Raise the appropriate number of fingers to indicate your answer to the above question: 1 Finger=Im ready today to teach someone how to make an awesome portfolio in Digication. 2 Fingers=Ive used Digication before. 3 Fingers=Digi-what?

Picture This!
Write a sentence at the top of the paper with at least one noun, one verb, and one adjective or adverb. Pass your sentence to the right. Draw a pictorial representation of the sentence now in front of you. You may not use any alpha-numeric symbols. When I say pass, fold the orginal sentence back so just your picture-based sentence is visible and pass it to your right. Write the sentence you believe the new picture sentence is trying to communicate. When I say pass, fold the paper so only the sentence you wrote is visible and pass it to the right. Keep repeating this process of alternating between word-based and picture-based sentences until time is called.

What is Grammar?
In groups of four, please complete the following activities on a paper to be turned in. Please do not consult any outside sources while completing this exercise: Generate a list of terms/concepts/ideas that you think fall under the category of grammar. Circle the items on your list that you think will be most important for you to be able to teach. Write a definition of grammar.
