Name of documentary, author/producer, and year. Helvetica was directed by Gary Hustwit in 2007.

It was produced by Gary Hustwit and the companies Swiss Dots and Veer. Is it "informational" or "promotional"? support your argument. In my opinion, the documentary was more informational than promotional. Even though the interviewees all discussed the greatness of the font, Helvetica is ubiquitous throughout our lives and does not need promotion. The movie informed the viewer about the history and context in which Helvetica was designed, and introduced us to the fact that we see it everywhere. It was informational in the sense that it made the viewer stop and pay attention to the world around them. Who is the primary audience it aimed at? I would say the primary audience would be people involved in graphic design or a related field. However, I think the film could be enjoyed by just about anyone because it is an interesting topic. What is the relevance of it to specific areas/topics of our course? The topics discussed in Helvetica could be applied to just about any one of our lectures this semester. A few major ones would be the history of graphic design, composition, and of course, typography. According to the lm, how does type affects our lives? Type affects our life in a very drastic way. We are literally surrounded by it at almost all times. It can inform us, entertain us, warn us, etc. Its an essential part of humanity and it is impossible to imagine us without it. Will you use Helvetica for your future graphic projects? (optional) I used it a little bit on the alphabet poster as more of a background filler though.
