Station 1 Opposite Sides

1. Place your parallelograms on top of each other. 2. Slide the top parallelogram to compare side AB with side DC. 3. Repeat to compare side AD with side BC. Discuss with your group how the opposite sides in a parallelogram compare. Come up with a summary statement for this property and record it on your summary sheet.

Station 2 Opposite Angles

1. Place your parallelograms on top of each other. 2. Rotate the top parallelogram until angle A lies on top of angle C.

Discuss with your group how the opposite angles in a parallelogram compare. Come up with a summary statement for this property and record it on your summary sheet.

Station 3 Consecutive Angles

1. Place your parallelograms on top of each other. 2. Slide the top parallelogram until angle A is adjacent to angle B. 3. Now place angle A adjacent to angle D. 4. Repeat this process to compare angle C with angles B and D.

Station 4 Diagonals
1. Draw diagonals on your thin parallelogram. 2. Label the intersection of the diagonals E. 3. Fold the parallelogram so that vertex A touches vertex C. Hold the parallelogram up to the light to see what happens to the diagonal AC. 4. Repeat with vertices B and D, looking at diagonal BD. Discuss as a group what you notice about diagonals in a parallelogram. Come up with a summary statement for this property and record it on your summary sheet.
