Station 1: Electrons and Energy Levels

Your task is to create a skit demonstrating what happens when an electron absorbs energy. 1 of you will narrate your skit, and the rest of your will be actors in it. The narrator must include following words in their final conclusion: ground state, excited state, energy, light. You have 6 minutes to plan out the skit, and I will come see it in the last minute.

Station 2: Orbitals
1. Draw an energy level diagram indicating how electrons fill up orbitals: 2. Order the following orbitals from lowest energy to highest energy: a. 3p, 7d, 2s, 6s, 4d, 1s, 4p, 5f, 3s, 5s, 6d 3. Order the following orbitals from lowest energy to highest energy: a. 4s, 5d, 2p, 7f,

Station 3: Orbital Diagrams

1. Create an orbital diagram for Palladium (Pd) and write out its full electron configuration (Hint: you may want to use one of your worksheets to refer to in how to draw an orbital diagram) 2. Create an orbital diagram for Gold (Au) and write out its electron configuration

Station 4: Electron Configurations

The group that completes the most electron configurations ACCURATELY will win the extra credit point: 1. Na _________________________________________________ 2. Fe __________________________________________________ 3. Br ___________________________________________________ 4. Ba ___________________________________________________ 5. Co ____________________________________________________ 6. Ag ____________________________________________________

7. Ra ____________________________________________________ 8. He _____________________________________________________ 9. Au _____________________________________________________

Station 5: Quantum Numbers

Come up with an analogy as to what the quantum numbers represent. For example, I used the example in class of how the principle quantum number represents the apartment floor level, etc. Note: YOU CANNOT USE THIS SAME ANALOGY!!!
