Orielton Field Centre House Orielton

Located on the south-west coast of Pembrokeshire, Orielton Field Centre is ideally placed as a base for University Geology/Earth Science field trips. The centre has easy access for coaches and parking for minibuses. A Georgian mansion with over 100 acres of mixedwoodland, it is 1.5 miles outside the Pembrokeshire National Park boundary, Britains only genuine coastal National Park. The proximity to the coast means you can be in the field quickly.

Pembrokeshire is an outstanding location for geology and geomorphology with some of the most diverse scenery found in the British Isles. From the Old Red Sandstone and Carboniferous Limestone of the south and east coast to the Precambrian to Silurian deposits north of the Cleddau estuary, this Welsh county possesses a wealth of geological field sites. Orielton Field Centre is within approximately 30 minutes of most sites providing a convenient base for any field work. In addition, the centre possesses a number of good-sized laboratories and a well-stocked library for follow-up work after your day in the field.
