This FAQ applies to Barracuda LP (Low-Power) drives, consisting of the following Seagate model numbers:

Note that all model numbers with the "AS" suffix are Serial ATA (3.0 Gbit/sec); the Barracuda LP family consists only of drives with a Serial ATA interface. Model Number Naming Conventions have changed with the release of the DiamondMax 21 series, since Seagate's acquisition of Maxtor. Seagate drives retain the prefix "ST", while Maxtor-brand drives have the prefix "STM".
