- George Orwell
Sometimes the work was hard; the implements had been designed for human beings and not for animals, and it was a great drawback that no animal was able to use any tool that involved standing on his hind legs. But the pigs were so clever that they could think of a way round every difficulty.
The horses and sheep, as well as other animals, do all of the hard and labours work. The pigs do none, but are the leaders. The pigs do none, but receive all the praise. Why is this? Do we always need leaders or is it possible for the workers to work for themselfs, will a higherarcry always be created?
Why is the Raven who represents religion called Moses, Orwells view was of Marx's that it is the opium of the masses that it is all lies. Moses was a great man who lead his people out of a horrible and corrupt place, but that is not at all what the raven does more so what Snowball does. Why does Orwell use irony here?
Napoleon is always right Once Napoleon promotes and forces violence against his own people why are the animals still convinced he is a great and glorious leader? They surely must realise something is going on, so why dont they rebel?
Why does Benjamin shout down the hopes of the animals, does this prove that hes seen it all before? Can he predict that the power-hungry personalities of the pigs will inevitably show?
